Chef Scott Dickenson from Norfolk, VA is heading a chef driven restaurant at 1816 Modern Kitchen & Drinks. Using fresh, local ingredients, the food is a reflection of his love for cooking and 20 years of experience in the culinary industry. From Hell's Kitchen in Virginia to the Southern Indiana restaurant scene, Corydon resident Scott Dickenson is now making 1816 a staple in the local community.

About the Food

The menu at 1816 Modern Kitchen & Drinks showcases the chef's creativity and take on Southern comfort fusions. Chef Scott Dickenson focuses on providing freshly made food with locally sourced ingredients. As a farm to table restaurant, 1816 Modern Kitchen & Drinks is unique to Corydon, IN which has loyal residents and visitors.

While our time-tested house favorites are loved and appreciated by our customers, we also experiment and create new and innovative dishes. This not only helps expand but also challenges our customers' culinary horizons.

Our Historic Building

The building is situated in historic downtown Corydon and is known as the Shafer Building. However, the locals better know it as "Jocko's". It was a local hangout place with a popular cheeseburger and pork tenderloin on the weekends. It was also visited regularly by popular television stars, Ken Kercheval of "Dallas" and James Best of the "Dukes of Hazzard".

The Italianate building was originally built in 1892 by Mr. John Schafer who established the St. Cloud Saloon. Since then, the building has housed restaurants, a creamery, a jewelry store, and a grocery store.

1816 Modern Kitchen & Drinks aims to become a neighborhood gathering place for the community, where customers can enjoy great food, drinks, ambiance, and most of all, fellowship.
